10 Golden Rules Internet Marketing Podcast

    http://podcast.tengoldenrules.com/

One of my favorite podcasts.  Jay Berkowitz & team have been producing quality information-filled productions since episode 1 (and it has been fun to witness the growth of a successful podcasting effort).  I just pray that the focus continues to include beginner’s interests and doesn’t get too internet marketing insider-ish!  I even make a dorky call-in audio appearance on episode 11!

    Mr. SEO Podcast

Joe Balestrino's podcasts, according to the host site text, were some of the first SEO & internet marketing related podcasts offered.  In writing this item up I realized there are a number of these programs I haven't listened to yet!

I'll update this as I find others of interest PLUS I haven't indulged in the batch of videocasts I've seen available on You Tube!

About Me & Contact

Posted by admin on October 6th, 2007

The chief architect and driving force behind TheFlyingPig.info project is a seasoned veteran of the Internet marketing arena. This industry leader has directed many successful campaigns during his career and will be assuming the role of chief executive for the development phase of TheFlyingPig.info operation.

NOT!

Actually the architect, executive officer, chief cook, & bottle washer is a 50-something year old fellow with a lovely wife who has built up a wonderful tolerance level for the antics of her spouse, two beautiful daughters who are making their way quite nicely into adulthood, and a younger son who is destined to be a super professional athlete or an influential leader of the free world (if he doesn’t get sidetracked by pursuing a career as a gangsta rap artist, yo yo).

Although my Dad worked for years as an independent business man owning his TV repair business, and Mom in addition to holding regular jobs made an additional income by typing college papers and dissertations, the model I entered my working life with was “get a good education, so you can get a good job”. I can guarantee you that even today if I mentioned anything about a non-conventional career pursuit to my mother I’d get the lowered brow, that eyes looking-up-at-you-look, with perhaps the pointed finger for emphasis with the edict, “You have a good job, you just better keep that job!”

I’ve tried to preach a bit of the entrepreneurial gospel to my children AND still push the “get a good education” line as well. My oldest has recently returned to school for her Master’s degree with maybe a doctorate pursuit to follow … living true to the first child syndrome, God help her! My younger daughter is pursuing a career in retail management, and enjoying it. My boy’s focus is on gold …. Runescape gold! But God only knows what the future holds for his generation in the work place. They are computer savvy at a very young age, a plethora of information is at their disposal, and their school curriculum is increasingly challenging.

My career in a nutshell, started college as a Biology major, Psychology minor student, got a bit disillusioned with my plans, joined the Navy for a stint, returned to college afterwards and pursued (and earned) my BSEE degree. I went to work in the engineering field took master’s level classes in marketing & economics along the way. Shifted gears a bit and pursued and completed a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Went through a downsizing layoff, followed by what turned out to be a bad stay with a small engineering firm, crossed over into more of the business side (the Dark Side) of the technical world.

Today I work as a proposal analyst for a networking and computer products VAR, which is a position closely related to the role of a grill cook at a fast food burger joint. In this role I serve up quotes and proposals for a team of account managers working across the Southeast … do you want fries with that IP Telephony proposal? Always a lot of work, too often with short fuses and too much pressure!

I have dabbled with things on the Internet for years now. But, having recently acquired a Sansa MP3 Player, I’ve been listening to Podcasts and reading a lot of the information referenced in the Podcasts.

I do want to believe that one can make a living, a good living, developing and working businesses on the Internet.

This blog serves as my “identity” for that pursuit. A site that will be a reference point for resources I’ve identified, a blog to chronicle my progress down the path, hopefully with commentary from other folks who have the same dreams, and from the people that hold the tools and information needed to make the dreams a reality.
